Professor Lex M Bouter, PhD, has a tenured chair in Methodology and Integrity at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics of the Amsterdam University Medical Centers and the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty of Humanities of the Vrije Universiteit. Before taking up the current position he was professor of Epidemiology since 1992.
He served his university as its rector between 2006 and 2013. Subsequently, Professor Bouter prepared for a return to science during a sabbatical leave. In 2014 his tenured professorship was broadened to Methodology and Integrity. He is currently involved in teaching and research regarding responsible conduct of research. Professor Bouter has supervised 76 PhD students, of whom to date 17 were appointed as professor.
In 2017, Professor Bouter organized the 5th World Conference on Research Integrity in Amsterdam and became chair of the World Conferences on Research Integrity Foundation.
